MidiBro 2 in Cubase / Nuendo

Overview

MidiBro is plugin-only (no standalone app). Two plugins work together:

• MidiBro Master: the browser and controller. Load it once; it makes no sound.
• MidiBro Receiver Instrument: plays the selected MidiStack cell; you route its MIDI to your synth.

Master and Receivers connect automatically over MidiBro’s internal link. You do not route MIDI between Master and Receiver by hand.

Cubase does not host a third-party MIDI effect before an instrument on the same track, so MidiBro uses the Instrument variant and Cubase’s instrument input routing.

Prerequisites

• Cubase / Nuendo 12 or newer
• MidiBro Master VST3 and MidiBro Receiver Instrument VST3
  • Mac: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/
  • Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\ (vendor: ivoschi)

Setup

1. 1
   #Add an Instrument track for the Master (Project -> Add Track -> Instrument), load MidiBro Master. It stays silent; this is your browser/controller.

   #Add an Instrument track for the Receiver, load MidiBro Receiver Instrument, turn Monitor on.

   #Add an Instrument track for your synth (e.g. Retrologue, Vital).

   #On the synth track: Inspector -> Routing -> Input Routing -> under Plug-ins, select “MidiBro Receiver Instrument - MIDI Output”. Turn Monitor on.

   #In the Master, assign the Receiver as the output for a MidiStack row, then launch a cell, and the synth plays.

Which plugin variant

Use MidiBro Receiver Instrument (VST3). Its MIDI output appears as an input option for other instrument tracks.
